Carpet Moth and Clothes Moths in Torbay, Teignbridge, South Hams & Exeter - ProAction Pest Control

Professional, Effective & Tailored Carpet Moth Eradication and Control

Carpet moths can cause significant damage to carpets, rugs, and soft furnishings, leaving behind bare patches and frayed fibres.

However, it’s not actually the adult flying moths doing the damage; it’s their larvae, which must feed on natural fibres to obtain the keratin protein they need to grow. Unfortunately, this means costly wool and other natural-fibre carpets can become an attractive feeding ground for them (if your carpet is synthetic, you’re in luck!).

As the larvae avoid light, they typically remain hidden behind or underneath your furniture, so infestations are often discovered too late and the moth problem has already become well established. They can also consume other fabrics in your property too, such as wool, cashmere, silk, cotton and even hair.

At ProAction Pest Control, we provide professional and effective carpet moth treatments across Torbay, Teignbridge, South Hams, and Exeter, using a combination of industry-approved insecticides and targeted control methods to protect your property long-term.

Identifying a Carpet Moth Infestation

Carpet moths are small but persistent pests. While adult moths are rarely seen,
their larvae cause the real damage by feeding on natural fibres such as wool, silk, or fur.

Common signs include:

  • Bald or worn patches in carpets or rugs

  • Cream-coloured larvae or silk webbing in carpet fibres

  • Adult moths flying near floor level

  • Shed larvae cases or small cocoons along skirting boards
